Holy Orders

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, holy orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time. Only baptized men may receive the sacrament of holy orders, which can be received only once in each of its three degrees: deacon, priest and bishop. All three of these degrees are conferred by the sacramental act called “ordination,” that is, by the sacrament of holy orders.

Men who are interested in pursuing the vocation of priesthood or diaconate may discuss this matter with our pastor, or call our Office for Clergy Vocations in the Diocese of Greensburg. Learn more about pursuing the sacrament of holy orders by visiting www.gbgvocations.org.

Please pray that good and faithful men and women will respond to God’s call to serve the church as permanent deacons and priests, as well as, consecrated men and women in religious community life.
